If you have made an appointment for a lactation consultation, you will need to fill out a Consent/Intake form before the visit. In most cases the lactation consultant will need to observe your baby nursing, and keeping a hungry baby waiting while mom fills out paperwork can be super stressful. In order to avoid this situation, we suggest having these forms already filled out when you come in. This will ensure that your consultation can start without delay. If possible, baby should be neither too hungry, nor too full. If your baby wants to feed within 30-45 minutes of the consultation start time, offering a short feeding may be enough to satisfy him/her until the observed feeding at the office.
